AnimeZing_Sun_thumbAnime-ZAP!, the convention that started as an "instant" anime convention, will return to Peoria, IL this January 15-16, 2011 at the Holiday Inn City Centre.

Anime-ZAP! started in January of 2010, after setbacks had forced the organizers of Pokettokon, the first anime con in Peoria, to cancel their convention less than a week prior to the convention weekend. The organizers of Anime-zing! in Bettendorf, IA, pulled together an "instant" replacement con with under 3 days of planning. 160 fans attended that first year.

One of the former organizers of Pokettokon said that they haven't heard any plans for a 2011 Pokettokon.

Events at the 2011 Anime-ZAP! will be similar to the 2010 convention, including anime screenings, video gaming, collectible card games, tabletop games, and fan panels. The convention will also feature a new hall cosplay contest, expanded video game options, more dealers, and more official scheduled programming.

"We're excited to have quadruple the amount of space as last year," said Ryan Kopf, Senior Organizer of Anime-ZAP! "Having more time to plan the convention also helps."

Admission for Anime-ZAP! costs only $7 through January 10, 2010. There is also an option to register online, yet pay at the door, for $15.

Anime-ZAP! is a production of QC Anime-zing! QC Anime-zing! 2010 will be held in Bettendorf, IA from June 18-20, 2010. The same organizers are also planning Anime-SPARK! in Cedar Rapids, IA from February 10-14, 2011 on valentine's weekend.

The organizers of QC Anime-zing! are also trying to develop a continuation of Anime-ZAP! in Peoria, IL for 2011, which has yet to be confirmed.

The convention is run by the organizers of QC Anime-zing!, which will be held June 18-20, 2010 in Bettendorf, IA. QC Anime-zing! includes guests Johnny Yong Bosch, Carrie Savage, Eyeshine, and The Man Power, along with events including panels, video gaming, and a concert.
