Ultimate Pop Culture Fest at Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo 2012

Press Release: Holy Expo, Batman! The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo (The Calgary Expo), one of Canada’s largest pop culture conventions is expected to break record attendance April 27 - 29, 2012. The all-ages expo will feature heavy-hitters from all walks of pop culture including comics, sci-fi, gaming, anime, and horror.

Coveted tickets for the Star Trek® TNG EXPOsed event sold out in under 24 hours (more tickets may be released closer to the event). The event has drawn great international attention for The Calgary Expo. In over twenty years this is the first-ever reunion of the principal cast of Star Trek®: The Next Generation.

Additional star power confirmed for The Calgary Expo includes the legendary Stan Lee, known for co-creating characters like Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man and The Hulk. The list of guests ranges with appearances by stars known for their work in classics like Batman, Nightmare on Elm Street and Star Wars to one of today’s hottest TV series The Walking Dead. 

“The Calgary Expo has something for everyone. There will be no shortage of celebrity guests here, but what we have created is so much more – it is the blending of art and pop culture to form something both incredible and entertaining,” states The Calgary Expo Event Director, Kandrix Foong.“ There will be three jam-packed days ranging from Q&A’s, panel discussions, music and screenings, to our artist alley exhibitors.” 

Over 70 celeb guests, 200 artists, and the subcultural phenomenon of Cosplay (short for Costume Roleplay) will take over The Calgary Expo. Cosplay is one of one of the most dynamic parts of The Calgary Expo – and is essential to the atmosphere that celebrates all things ‘geek’. Cosplay participants fuse performance art, pop culture, and costume centred around role play specific to their favorite characters from comics, video games, movies, and other pop culture. The Calgary Expo is a spectacle for little kids, and big kids who want to embrace their childhood or release their inner geek.
