Press Release:
It will be a “scrumdiddlyumptious” gathering when the five child stars from the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory reunite 40 years after the release of the now classic film at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, August 11-14. Peter Ostrum (“Charlie Bucket”), Paris Themmen (“Mike Tee Vee”), Julie Dawn Cole (“Veruca Salt”), Denise Nickerson (“Violet Beauregard”) and Michael Boellner (“Augustus Gloop”) will appear together for an extremely rare reunion, joining more than 500 celebrities and artists at the event, which will bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more.

The original 1971 film, based on Roald Dahl’s book and screenplay, told the story of five children who won the opportunity to tour the fictional, world famous Wonka Chocolate Factory after finding a “golden ticket” in packages of Wonka chocolate. The poor but extremely good-hearted Charlie is joined by the other four, whose quirks have made them among the most memorable characters ever as the film has achieved cult status. All-time greats Gene Wilder, who played the eccentric Wonka, and Jack Albertson, who portrayed Charlie’s beloved Grandpa Joe, starred in the feature roles.

Saboten Con 2011 Announces Rob Blatt and Kazha

OdaKazuha

Press Release: Saboten Con adds writer and actor Rob Blatt and Japanese rock group Kazha to their guest list for this year.

Rob Blatt started his career as a healthcare lobbyist in Washington, D.C. but he is now an award-winning writer and actor in Los Angeles. His recent work includes scripting Cartoon Network's "Kekkaishi", and MADHOUSE's exciting new "Wolverine" series airing on G4. As an actor, Rob voiced the role of Shuji for the English-language "Kekkaishi" series. He has also worked on various projects both on television and on the web for Comedy Central, MSN and Comedy.com. In addition, Rob lays claim to the peculiar title of "reality show writer" with credits on NBC's "The Sing-Off" and MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew".

All the way from Tokyo Japan, rock group Kazha will make an appearance at Saboten Con. Lead singer Kazuha Oda which the band gets its name, decided to start the band after her successful solo career. She released several albums in Japan and worked with a wide variety of different artists including the Grammy Award pianist Bob James. The band consists of Kazuha Oda on vocals with Hideki Matsushige on guitar, Yota Sato on bass and Rui Aranai on drums.

Kazha represents the new future of the world music; a fusion of cultures and musical viewpoints that create their sound ranging from soulful, jazz-tinged pop to the verge of Goth metal. The band has said their music "combines the softness of a falling feather with the heaviness of a hurricane".

Baltimore Comic-Con Welcomes Scott Snyder, Paul Levitz, and Ron Marz

AmericanVampire6
Press Release:
With September's relaunch of 52 titles from DC Comics, the Baltimore Comic-Con is happy to announce the addition of three creators heading up those titles - Scott Snyder, Paul Levitz, and Ron Marz - to the line-up for this year's show.

Scott Snyder, who will be writing DC's Batman and Swamp Thing, made a huge impact on the comic industry of the last year with his work on the New York Times bestselling series, American Vampire and his critically-acclaimed run on Detective Comics. Snyder is currently writing the Flashpoint tie-in miniseries, Project Superman. Snyder has been nominated for two Harvey Award this year in the categories of Best New Series and Most Promising New Talent for his work on American Vampire.

Paul Levitz, who will continue his run as writer on Legion of Super-Heroes in September, is a mainstay in the comic industry. For over 35 years, Levitz has served as a writer, editor, and executive at DC Comics. His work on the Legion throughout the late-'70s and '80s is widely-regarded as some of the most quintessential stories in the DCU. In addition to writing Legion, it has just been announced that Levitz will be writing the 6-issue mini-series, The Huntress, beginning in October. This year, he received a Harvey Award nomination in the category of Best Biographical, Historical or Journalistic Presentation for his work on 75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Myth-Making.
