Midwest Geek Fest - A Great Little Con
I just attended this convention as an artist guest and, of course, as a geek. This was a great little convention, with a wonderful atmosphere. The venue was an office building, but one very uniquely suited for a con. I mean what office has multiple 50" flatscreens in every conference room in the building?
Gunther's Games set up an entire arcade for the con and gave away a classic pinball machine. There was a steady flow of nice people all day long. The con staff was amazing.
I highly recommend this event for anyone who wants to have a good time geeking out. I look forward to it next year.
Awesome monster stuff
Alays a great time and fantastic stuff for sale.

Location was horrible, beautiful hotel but too small and across from the rodeo

Nice convention space and location, concerts were awesome. Though the panels were unorganized
A Con I will never forget. XD
Ok, so my opinion might be bias because this is the con I proposed to my gorgeous lady, but I chose this event because I knew it was going to be perfect! Everyone who came to my table was super chill and completely awesome! I met a awesome father, (i want to say his name is David?) and his super cute, super geeky and energetic daughter at the convention. They were just characters that left a lasting impression on me, and it was their first con. Oh and Jim Beaver Is awesome! I gave him a colored sketch of his character Bobby from supernatural. The 501st were awesome too ,I want to thank them for the back up in my proposal! You guys rock!!!! Also the announcement from Eric Matos' animated series, for his web comic http://3dbdotcom.com/ !I will be one of the voice actors!

Contemporal - Homecoming
The Dealers room has a good mix of vendors. It is not all jewelers or all clothing vendors. The programming has been diverse and well attended and the guests have been approachable. We got to talk at length with all the guests outside of panels. It was great to get one on one time with them. The "High Tea" was a blast and the guests were distributed so we could talk with them more. They have made good use of the story arc. Even some of the vendors are playing along with the story arc. There is lots of music and the costumes have been great! I will be sad when this ends tomorrow.

Up and Comer!
I've attended Phoenix Comicon since it actually *was* held in Mesa, five years ago. Since then, it has grown, and expanded into first the small part of the convention center in downtown Phoenix, to the larger venue, and has now gone from one host hotel to two, and the possibility of a third. Attendance has grown, more than doubling in the last five years from less than 10,000 to more than 20,000 in 2011. I always compare it to some of the larger cons, and I believe what I'm seeing is a convention still in its infancy, much the way that Dragon Con was 25 years ago. Come on down to the Valley of the Sun!
The longest-running con in NYC (sort of)
Thsi convention was started by the guy who created the big apple Convention 15 years ago, and maintains much of the flavor of that conventions. It is a mid-sized show with many comic book legends of the golden and silver ages, aith a few key hot new artists as well. It always has a few pop culture guests, like TV stars, rock musicians, and pro wrestlers. For collectors, this show always has some of the best dealers in the country, and you can find some of the oldest and most collectible comics there (if you have the money).
As a one-day show it does not always have the depth of programming that Big apple sued to, and the venue, the Penn Plaza Pavilion has its plusses and minuses (great location, slightly awkward floor space) but the organizers make the most of it.
