Carolina Games Summit To Feature Red Storm Sponsored Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Tournament

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is a third-person video game published by Ubisoft and jointly developed by Ubisoft Paris, Red Storm Entertainment, and Ubisoft Bucharest.  Future Soldier is the fifth installment in the Ghost Recon series and was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.  The campaign has settings such as Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia and Norway.  Future Soldier features a fully cooperative campaign, as well as competitive multiplayer which will be the focus of the tournament. “Red Storm is looking forward to the strategic and competitive rivalries that attendees of the Carolina Game Summit bring to the battlefields of Ghost Recon Future Soldier,” said Geoff Brock, Community Developer for Red Storm Entertainment.

Anime Milwaukee 2013 Welcomes Nobuo Uematsu

Press Release: Anime Milwaukee welcomes special guest Nobuo Uematsu! Uematsu is the world-renowned composer of the Final Fantasy video game soundtracks. He is also the guest composer of the Distant Worlds concert, occurring the day before Anime Milwaukee, on Thursday, February 14th. Pre-registered Anime Milwaukee attendees will be offered a discount to the Distant Worlds concert. The Distant Worlds concert features a symphony orchestra, a choir, and renowned soloists.

Anime Milwaukee is also excited to welcome the following guests:

Alexis Tipton (voice actress) - known for her lead roles in Baka and Test, Sekirei, Rosario + Vampire, Blood-C, and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos.

Baltimore Comic-Con 2013 Announces Mouse Guard Creator David Petersen

Press Release: The Baltimore Comic-Con is happy to announce the return of David Petersen for our 14th annual show, taking place September 7-8, 2013 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

Petersen, who is best known for his work on Mouse Guard, an ongoing collection of mini-series published by Archaia Studios, is a cartoonist children's book illustrator who began his career in 2004 with the release of Voices - a self-published anthology from ComiXpress. Possessing a distinctive art style reminiscent of A.A. Milne (creator of Winnie the Pooh), Petersen has worked on such comics as The Dark Crystal, Snowy Valentine, and Muppets & Fairytales from Archaia, as well as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro-Series from IDW. His artwork also graced the cover for the 2012 Baltimore Comic-Con program, as well as the show-exclusive t-shirt.

In 2008, David won the Eisners for Best Publication for Kids (Mouse Guard Fall 1152 & Winter 1152) and Best Graphic Album - Reprint (Mouse Guard Fall 1152 Hardcover). In 2010, he was nominated for a Harvey Award for Best Artist (Mouse Guard: Winter 1152).

"David is one of the most talented cartoonists working in comic today and we couldn't be happier to have him returning to Baltimore again this year," said Marc Nathan, show promoter of the Baltimore Comic-Con. "His beautifully rendered artwork truly brings a fine art element to the world of sequential storytelling and to Baltimore!"

Shuto Con Welcomes Dragon Ball Actors To 2013 Event

Press Release: Throughout the 90s an imported anime cartoon dominated the airwaves and captivated children and even adult fans of Japanese animation alike. That cartoon, also known as anime, was Dragon Ball.

Lansing, Mich anime convention, Shuto Con, will bring together six cast members of the Dragon Ball franchise for a special reunion event over the weekend of April 5-7, 2013, with additional guests expected to confirm at a later date.

Each of the guests have had an impact across the anime and animation communities, but will meet at Shuto Con to greet fans and hold talks about Dragon Ball and the major cult following it created.

The guests lineup will also include several artist and entertainment groups to round out the fan experience. Guests this year include:

Greg Ayres- The prolific voice actor and DJ will pull double duty during the convention meeting fans of his work on Nerima Daikon Brothers, Beck, Negima! and his hilarious script writing and acting for Ghost Stories, as well as playing DJ for both evening rave dances. Ayres played the role of Guldo as well as preformed the opening theme used in some episodes of the new Dragon Ball Kai. 

Colleen Clinkenbeard- In addition to supervising scripts for several anime, Clinkenbeard has also starred in fan favorite anime such as Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece, the new Evangelion films and more. Among her myriad of roles with Dragon Ball, she has played the voices of Gohan, Android 18 and Baby Trunks.

Chris Rager- Bringing a multitude of talents to the convention, Rager is not only a voice actor for several popular anime and games, he also lent his voice to many television commercials, stage acts and preforms improvisational comedy. Rager voiced the fan-favorite Mr. Satan/Hercule, among several other roles for Dragon Ball.

Monica Rial- At over a decade in the animation industry, Rial has provided voices to more than 250 anime including major roles in One Piece, Ouran High School and the smash-hit Panty and Stocking. Rial was cast as Bulma in Dragon Ball Kai.

Christopher Sabat- While Sabat has acted in many popular anime including Fullmetal Alchemist, Lupin III and One Piece, when you think of Sabat's work, the dozens of roles he has played in Dragon Ball come to mind most prominently. His most major roles include Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha, Mr. Popo and many more.

Sonny Strait- As a writer, director, and voice actor, Strait has made a major impact on the anime community with his roles in Fullmetal Alchemist, Lupin III and the incomparable voice of Tom in the fondly regarded Toonami program block on Cartoon Network. Strait played the voice of Krillin and Bardok, among others in Dragon Ball.

Additional guests include:

Rikki and Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simmons- Comprising an impressive voice acting and artist couple-duo, Rikki Simmons provided the voice of Gir in the cult cartoon Invader ZIM as well as serving as an background animation artist and novel writer, and Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simmons produces Japanese-inspired manga comics and fashions under her studio name of "Tavicat". Together they produce a weekly webcomic calles @Tavicat.

Doug Smith- Smith both began his voice acting career and earned a legendary reputation while voicing the lead role, Kintaro, in the anime classic, Golden Boy. Smith also provides the artwork for several comics, magazines and games, and will feature some of his art as a vendor at the convention.

Musical guests include:

Arc Impulse, Armcannon, DJ TKR, DJ Freddy D., Knights of the Round, The Pillowcases, Those Who Fight and The X-Hunters.

Carolina Games Summit Announces 2013 Call For Speakers

Press Release: Since its inception in 2006, the Carolina Games Summit has been the premiere gathering spot for the North Carolina video game community. Over 1,200 people attend each year. The 2012 Summit featured 17 speakers and 8 sessions. The 2013 Carolina Games Summit takes place February 2 at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, NC.

In preparation for the 2013 Summit, we are accepting proposals for conducting a session. Presenting a session at the Carolina Games Summit provides rewarding exposure both professionally and personally. This is an opportunity to share ideas and practices with some of the brightest lights in future game design and some of the biggest fans of video games. We look forward to an exciting lineup of speakers at the 2013 Carolina Games Summit!

The unifying aspect of the Carolina Games Summit is its dedication to informing the public that simulation and game design is a viable career choice for today’s youth.  Our proposal process is informal and easy—just a web form at carolinagamessummit.com/speak.  Proposals should include a one- or two-paragraph description of the topic and a brief outline of key points. New presenters at the Carolina Games Summit will also need to send biographical information. Sessions are normally 45 minutes in length. Conference speakers receive entry to the event, access to our catered hospitality room, and a free booth for their company. Speakers are responsible for their own travel expenses.
