J. Scott Campbell, one of the most popular artists in comics, has graciously accepted an invitation to Boston Comic Con 2011! One of the most requested guests for any convention, we are ecstatic to have the opportunity to bring him to meet his New England fans. Campbell first exploded on the scene in the 90s with his first book, Gen 13. His dynamic storytelling and reputation for illustrating some of the most attractive women in the industry continued with his follow-up project, Danger Girl. His covers currently grace titles including Spider-Man, Wolverine, GI Joe, and many more! Be sure to catch his panel with fellow cover artists JG Jones and Dave Johnson!

This spring the Boston Comic Con doubles in size and moves to a much larger venue, the Hynes Convention Center! In light of the massive crowds at the previous convention, the move was essential to accommodate the growing popularity of the show. And with this line up of comic creators, every extra foot of space is absolutely needed.

Boston2010_thumbBoston Comic Con recently announced that they will be adding a bunch of new guests. This adds to the already impressive lineup they have been able to bring to this New England based Comic Convention. Here is the list of new guests with details provided by Boston Comic Con.

Joseph Michael Linsner is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of creating Dawn with a stop at the Boston Comic Con! To commemorate the occasion he is offering a limited edition print that is sure to sell out. His pinup style is a huge hit with fans and collectors worldwide. Linsner has also worked on Wolverine/Black Cat: Claws and is the current cover artist for Dark Horse’s Conan series.

JH Williams III is an amazing illustrator known for his work on Promethea, Desolation Jones, Seven Soldiers of Victory, and many, many covers. With an art style that is constantly evolving, Williams continually pushes the boundaries of storytelling and design. His recent work on Detective Comics featuring Batwoman has garnered a heap of critical praise. Don’t miss this rare talent!

Eva Hopkins collaborates with fellow guest Joseph Michael Linsner as the co-colorist on Dawn and co-creator of Dark Ivory. Additionally, Eva has self-published Fear of Flight, an anthology of indie comics, and established Luna Muse Studios.

Mike Norton is one of the hardest working artists in the business. He is currently penciling both Green Arrow/Black Canary and Booster Gold. And when he finds the time, he does the occasional issue on titles such as Queen & Country, The Power of Shazam, and many more.

Franco Aureliani is the writer of the popular kid-friendly DC Comics title Tiny Titans. He is also the co-creator of Patrick the Wolf Boy. Make sure to bring the kids!

Mike Huddleston is the co-creator and artist of ONI’s Coffin. Huddleston’s work has been featured in Image’s Deep Sleeper, DC’s Harley Quinn, and Vertigo’s Mnemeovore. Mike’s most recent books include Gen 13 and When Zombies Attack!

Boston Comic Con has announce a new location and awesome guest list for the 2010 convention. The event will boast over 22,000 square feet of vendors selling comic books, toys, posters, and other pop culture memorabilia. The event will be held Saturday April 10th and Sunday April 11th at the Westin Waterfront, 425 Summer Street, Boston, MA from 10am to 5pm. Admission is $15 each day. JIM LEE is a huge superstar in the comic industry. He created a massive fan following in the 90s drawing X-Men before leaving Marvel to co-found Image Comics. His studio, Wildstorm, now falls under the DC Comics banner where has works on their flagship titles, Batman and Superman. He recently helped create the DC Universe Online MMORPG.

MIKE MIGNOLA is the creator of Hellboy, one of the most popular indie characters in comics. With two feature films, animated videos, toys, spinoff series, and more, Hellboy is an international sensation. Mike has also done feature film work on Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and is currently working with frequent collaborator Guillermo del Toro on The Hobbit.

ERIC POWELL has worked on many title including Action Comics, Star Wars Tales, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But he found success with his critically acclaimed series The Goon. Eric is adapting the Goon into an animated feature film with director David Fincher.

BILL SIENKIEWICZ is Emmy nominated and Eisner award winning artist, best known for revamping the style of comic and graphic novel illustration from 1980 onward, most notably with on Elektra Assassin, Moon Knight, New Mutants and his acclaimed graphic novel Stray Toasters. A classically trained painter, Bill’s renderings incorporate abstract and expressionist influences and any combination of oil painting, acrylics, watercolor, mixed-media collage and mimeograph; previously unheard of in comics.

STEVE RUDE is best known for co-creating the groundbreaking series Nexus. He has worked for all the major comic book publishers including Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Dark Horse Comics, drawing all the major characters including Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Thor, X-Men, Captain America, and many more.

SKOTTIE YOUNG cut his teeth doing the art for New Warriors, Human Torch, and New X-Men. His current project, a faithful adaptation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, has garnered him widespread critical acclaim.

JIM STARLIN
created waves writing and drawing many of Marvel’s cosmic titles in 70s and creating the villain Thanos. His work on Silver Surfer, Infinity Gauntlet, and The Death of Captain Marvel reverberate to this day.

JIM MAHFOOD
(aka FOOD ONE) got his big break drawing the Clerks comics for Kevin Smith. He has published his creator-owned Grrl Scouts and worked for Marvel on Ultimate Team Up, What The?, and Generation X Underground Special. Jim is also well known for his live art murals.

CRAIG ROUSSEAU began his career at DC Comics on such titles as Impulse, Harley Quinn, Batman Beyond, and Gotham Adventures. He is currently working on Iron Man: Armor Wars on Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane written by Terry Moore. Craig is also the co-creator of the indy comic hit The Perhapanauts.

JOE QUINONES is a Boston local artist who is on the rise in comics. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he worked on Teen Titans Go! before being hand-picked to draw the Green Lantern strip in this past summer’s Wednesday Comics. Currently Joe is working on a run of covers for Amazing Spider-Man and an unannounced graphic novel for DC.

CHRISTOPHER GOLDEN is a horror writer who co-wrote the lavishly illustrated novel Baltimore, or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire with Mike Mignola. His comics work includes BPRD, Talent, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel.

The Boston Comic Con is happy to announce that WALT & LOUISE SIMONSON are joining us at the Back Bay Events Center on October 24-25, 2009! Walt Simonson is no stranger to New England having studied geology at Amherst College and then transferred to the Rhode Island School of Design where he created the comic Star Slammers as his senior thesis. Walt is best known for his groundbreaking work on The Mighty Thor where he created the alien warrior Beta Ray Bill. His artwork has also graced the pages of Star Wars, Fantastic Four, Detective Comics, and X-Factor which he co-created with Louise. Walt is well-renowned for his writing and participated in this summer’s Wednesday Comics project in which he penned the Catwoman strip.

WalterSimonson6.13.09Louise “Weezie” Simonson began her career in comics on the editorial side at Warren Publishing and later Marvel where she made the switch to writing full-time. She has scripted many titles including New Mutants, Superman: Man of Steel, and Magnus Robot Fighter, and co-created popular characters like Steel, Cable, and Apocalypse. Louise also has to her credit the creation of the superhero teams Power Pack with artist June Brigman and X-Factor with her husband Walt.
