For more than 60 years, Stan Lee has been a symbol of strength, determination and artistic excellence. His work has been held in such high regard that the County of Los Angeles declared October 2 to be Stan Lee Day and he received the 2,428th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January 2011. Other titles co-credited to Stan Lee include Thor, Captain America and The Hulk, all of which have been made into major blockbuster movies within the past decade.??Not only has he championed the world of comics, he has also championed the world of arts and literacy, having devoted much of his time to advocating the development of writers and artists throughout the United States.

"The work that Stan Lee has done to foster the growth of artists and writers on a global scale is outstanding," says Kandrix Foong, Event Director of the Calgary Expo. "The Artists Alley section of our convention, which showcases both aspiring and professional artists, has been made possible thanks to people like Stan Lee. He's a real life superhero for a lot of people."

Artists Alley, comprised of 160 artists from around the world, is featured annually at the Calgary Expo. It is designed to cultivate relationships between artists and their fans, whilst offering increased exposure and edifying this dynamic community of creative minds.

The Calgary Expo is a non-profit organization that showcases the incredible talent of comic creators, artists, actors, voice actors, musicians, writers and pop culture icons from all over the world. Founded in 2006, the convention has grown rapidly having hosted guests from every genre including Leonard Nimoy, artist Ernie Chan, voice actors Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche and Jess Harnell, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. The 2011 convention saw 30,000 attendees and is the second largest convention of its kind in all of Canada.

Guests for the 2012 Calgary Expo currently include Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Amanda Tapping (Stargate: SG-1, Sanctuary), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, 24), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Adam West (original Batman), Hayden Panettiere (Heroes), Adam Baldwin (Firefly), John Noble (Fringe), Dave Prowse (Star Wars, A Clockwork Orange) Tom Felton (Harry Potter 1-8), and the nine principal cast members from Star Trek: The Next Generation.??The Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo will be held April 27 – 29, 2012 at the BMO Centre, Stampede Park, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Press Release: “A Never-Ending Battle,” the first episode of a new film from the creative team responsible for the award-winning PBS documentaries “Broadway: The American Musical” and “Make ‘Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America,” will be screened in front of an audience for the first time at the New York Comic Con, the East Coast’s largest and most exciting pop culture convention.

Featuring rare footage along with new interviews with legends such as Joe Simon, Stan Lee, Jim Steranko, Neal Adams, Michael Chabon and Jules Feiffer, segments of the first episode – “A Never-Ending Battle: 1938-1954” – will be previewed on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 4PM in Room 1B01 of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center at 655 West 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan. An on-stage interview and Q&A with filmmakers and cultural historians Michael Kantor and Laurence Maslon will take place immediately following the screening.

There are some big name on the schedule as expected including Stan Lee, Joe Quesada, Jeph Loeb, and Brian Michael Bendis and a ton more. The schedule starts Friday at 1:30 and extends to Sunday at 4:00 with many of the Marvel folks signing in multiple sessions. New York Comic Con (NYCC) has today announced its first major round of comic guest appearances at this year’s show which will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, October 8 – 10, 2010. Convention officials note that while the final NYCC guest list will span the pop culture universe, including authors, writers, film actors and directors, by far the largest contingent of guest appearances will be from the world of comics. A few of the many guests who have been revealed in today’s announcement include: Adam Hughes, Steve McNiven, Steve Epting, Bob Layton and Greg Pak. Organizers note that Adam Hughes was also a guest at NYCC in 2008. Hughes has drawn for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, and many other companies, and he has also done work for Lucasfilm and Warner Bros. He is currently working on many projects, including a hardcover collection of his work for DC Comics.

In separate announcements, NYCC organizers have revealed that Stan Lee will be this year’s “Spotlight” Guest of Honor at New York Comic Con and John Romita and John Romita, Jr. will be appearing together as Keystone Guests of Honor at the show.

“While New York Comic Con has certainly grown and evolved in new directions over the past five years, we remain a show which is dedicated to providing a home for the absolute best and most respected comic book talent,” notes Lance Fensterman, Vice President for ReedPOP and Show Manager for NYCC. “Comics are the heart and soul of NYCC and we are enormously grateful to all the leading comic book celebrities who make themselves available to the thousands of fans who attend our show.”
