Press Release: Long Beach Comic Con programming is official. With no shortage of guests, comic panels, how to seminars, film screenings and Q&A’s sessions the third Annual Long Beach Comic Con is sure to be a crowd pleaser. The convention doors open Saturday, October 29 at 10 am and will have a full weekend worth of events for attendees. Be sure to plan your weekend as panel rooms fill up quickly and space is limited.

The cast and crew of The Guild, who in addition to a Q&A, will be taking attendees on a walking tour of filming locations in the Long Beach area, highlight Saturday. Seth Green and the creative minds behind Robot Chicken will be hosting a Q&A and have asked that all fans come prepared to participate in the panel. Iron Man 3 Director, Shane Black will be speaking about and answering questions on all his feature film work including the highly anticipated Iron Man 3.

Saturday night at 8:30 pm join us for our first annual Masquerade Ball! Prizes will be awarded by our esteemed panel of Judges, who include Mike Shields, Shawn Crosby and Wendy Pini for a variety of categories.

Comic panels make up the majority of the sessions on Sunday with a workshop by Mark Waid and Josh Fialkov, a career retrospective by Tim Bradstreet, hosted by Thomas Jane and a writer’s panel with Steve Niles & Jimmy Palmiotti

Press Release: Shane Black, Director of the highly anticipated Iron Man 3 film, will be making an appearance at the Long Beach Comic & Horror Con on Saturday, 10/29 at 4:00 PM. Black, whose films include Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon and The Long Kiss Goodnight, will be hosting a panel to discuss his filmmaking career. He will share stories from the Lethal Weapon franchise, The Last Boy Scout, the writing and directing process and of course what is being planned for Iron Man 3 and the pressure of taking over the reigns of the incredibly successful franchise.

"We were thrilled when we learned that Shane Black would be coming to the show,” said Phil Lawrence, co-owner of the Long Beach Comic & Horror Con. "He is going to blow everyone away with his engaging style and no doubt we'll learn some very interesting things about the making of his films. We can't wait for this one."

The panel will a must see for aspiring film makers and movie buffs alike in addition to fans of Iron Man who are hunting for clues to what awaits them in the upcoming Iron Man 3.

Press Release: MAD Event Management and Long Beach Comic & Horror Con are planning the party of the weekend. The con has added a Masquerade Ball to the October 29th & 30th show at the Long Beach Convention Center. The Ball, being coordinated by Mike Shields, will be Saturday night October 29.

Promoters of Long Beach Comic Con Phil Lawrence and Martha Donato announced the addition of the Masquerade Ball. “This has been three years in the making for us! We have all of the pieces in place to make it a party the likes of which Long Beach has never seen before,” said Donato. Lawrence added, “The Masquerade Ball on the Saturday night (October 29th) is going to extend the fun into the evening hours. We brought in an expert and know that Mike will do an unbelievable job coordinating the event.”

Mike Shields, added “I look forward to bringing my years of experience working for The Masquerade at San Diego Comic-con here to the Long Beach Comic Con. We’re going to have a blast.”

Shield’s latest 168 Project Film, Blue Blazes, was a 2011 Finalist Selection in San Diego Comic-con’s Film Festival. Shields is the CEO of Team 33 Productions, which was formed out of the 2011 168 Project, with its First Film, Blue Blazes. Mike has won several screenwriting awards.

Prizes will be awarded in several categories, with the first named prize being a $100 cash award donated by Dennis Mallonee of Heroic Publishing. This award will be presented to the costumer who best portrays a Heroic Publishing character, as voted by our panel of judges.
